Lawsuit to Be Filed Over Delay in Protecting Florida Panther Habitat

The 90-day timeline for the US Fish & Wildlife Service to respond to a scientific petition for designating critical habitat for endangered Florida panthers expired last week. After no response, the Center for Biological Diversity - backed by numerous other environmental groups and activists - has now filed a 60-day notice of intent to sue the USFWS. Although not in time for the holidays, Florida panthers are one step closer to the habitat they so desperately need for their species to recover.
