DNR: Bemidji Cougar's Origin is Still Unknown

Research continues as Department of Natural Resources biologists try to determine the origin of a cougar killed in Bemidji (just West of Chippewa National Forest, MN) two months ago. The cat's DNA does not match up with any other cougars previously studied in Minnesota, so now they are comparing it to cougars from South Dakota and Colorado. Although Minnesota DNR furbearer specialist John Erb is misinformed - perhaps just misquoted - saying cougars live in prides, hopefully his DNA analysis skills are more up to date.
