Some of the most important work MLF does is community outreach — and that's exactly what we did on January 6th in Wilton!
Wilton, located about half an hour southeast of Sacramento, is a rural area full of domestic animals such as cattle, sheep, and goats. We gathered at the Wilton Community Center on Saturday morning and were pleased to have an audience of over 50 people show up an hour early to ask questions about the demo pen we were building.
Erin Hauge from the Cosumnes River Preserve kicked off an indoors presentation on mountain lions and was followed by CDFW mountain lion biologist Justin Dellinger. After her own presentation on coexisting with mountain lions, MLF Executive Director Lynn Cullens took questions from the eager crowd alongside Mr. Dellinger.
A lot of constructive conversations were held on Saturday, and we left assured that dozens of livestock and pet owners now know how to properly protect their animals and by extension, mountain lions!
